THE ROAD TO OKOTOKS

From coast to coast, the top amateur baseball programs in the country will battle it out on THE ROAD TO OKOTOKS to be the Baseball Canada National Champion. Only 16 teams will survive the qualifiers and advance to the National Final in Okotoks, Alberta.

 THE ROAD TO OKOTOKS is Baseball Canada’s ultimate showcase of talent, competition, and championship spirit. The event brings together the strongest programs from across Canada in a season-long journey culminating in the Finals at Seaman Stadium, home of the Okotoks Dawgs.

 FAQs

  • Athletes must be 19 years of age or younger as of December 31, 2026, and must have college eligibility. Athletes must be a Canadian citizen or an active member of a Canadian baseball program (non collegiate). 

    Athlete eligibility will be verified and confirmed by Baseball Canada

  • Teams qualify through Regional Qualifiers held in BC, Alberta, and Ontario. 

    In Ontario and British Columbia sub-qualification events are tentatively scheduled to determine entries into Regional Qualifiers.

  • The following clubs will host Regional Qualifying tournaments:

    • BC - Langley Blaze and White Rock Tritons

    • Alberta - Vauxhall Academy and Prairie Baseball Academy

      *All tournament games will be staged in Lethbridge

    • Ontario - Mississauga Tigers HPP, Ontario Blue Jays, Ontario Nationals and Ontario Terriers

    Regional Qualifiers are tentatively scheduled for May 28 - 31.

  • Sixteen teams in total will survive The Road To Okotoks to reach the Baseball Canada National Championship with the following breakdown:

    • Host (Okotoks Dawgs) - 1 team

    • BC - 4 teams

    • Alberta - 3 teams

    • Ontario - 7 teams

    • Wild Card - 1 team

  • The Regional Qualifiers on The Road To Okotoks will consist of group play/round robin with three games guaranteed per team in a 16-team event and four games guaranteed in a 20-team event. 

    The Baseball Canada National Championship will consist of 16 teams with four games guaranteed.

    Eight teams will advance to single elimination quarter-final games before semi-finals and a championship game take place.

  • A centralized platform where teams and athletes register to compete in a Regional Qualifier. The portal will have athlete profiles that are visible to scouts, coaches, and event organizers.

    The portal will open the week of November 3rd, 2025.

  • The cost for teams to enter is $400 per player with 24 players required on each roster. Teams can pay fees themselves or have their players register on the portal as individuals.

    Teams will be required to submit a $3000.00 deposit to Baseball Canada when the portal opens the week of November 3rd, 2025 in order to reserve their spot.

    The remaining balance is due by February 1st, 2026.

  • Teams can begin registering athletes when the portal opens the week of November 3rd , 2025.

    Teams will be required to submit a preliminary roster (PR) by April 1, 2026 in order to facilitate the roster approval process.

    The final 24-player roster (FR)  will be required by May 1, 2026 for final approval.

    After May 1st, any roster substitutions must be sent to Baseball Canada for review and approval.

  • Before the Baseball Canada National Championship in Okotoks, the 16 qualified teams will have the opportunity to participate in a one-round draft to enhance rosters and showcase top talent. The draft process will give qualified teams an opportunity to increase their roster to 25 players.

    A list of draft-eligible players will be verified and distributed to teams prior to the draft.

    *No more than two players can be drafted from any one organization unless that organization is not active during the summer months.

  • The Qualifiers and Baseball Canada National Championship will be wood bat tournaments with Baseball Canada Cup pitch count rules in effect.

    Games will be seven innings with the exception of the National Championship Final being nine innings.

    Full tournament rules will be published at a later date.

  • Teams are responsible for all travel, local transportation and accommodations for Qualifiers and the Baseball Canada National Championship.

    For teams travelling to Okotoks, Baseball Canada will provide a list of preferred hotels and ground transportation options that teams are encouraged to use.

    Teams needing air travel to Okotoks (via Calgary) are required to book their travel through Baseball Canada for preferred rates and availability.
